In 2011 we escaped life in the Big City of Toronto & started a new one on a small farm in Kingston Ontario.
I am a Chef, my husband a brilliant Software Exec & soon after following in love with farming, eating seasonally & locally, we opened Kingston’s 1st Gourmet Food Truck & later, a Catering Co.
Life wasn’t done with it’s curveballs for us though. In the summer of 2016 Peter was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma, including 16 brain tumours. No Chemo, no Surgery, not much hope – that was pretty much what we were told. That’s when our fight, – our real journey began.
I took everything I knew about food, as a Chef & began my journey of discovering the healing power of food. The Gerson Therapy, Ketogenics, Superfoods, Clean Eating. Thousands of hours of research, menu testing, buried under stacks of books with supersized bags under my eyes from reading endless websites have us to this point.
Peter is in partial remission, 15/16 of his brain tumours are gone (good riddance) & I have a clear goal in life now – heal Peter completely & share as much knowledge as I can with as many people as I can. Food does have the capacity to heal. The body does have the ability to heal itself.
Whether it be Cancer, MS, Diabetes, or improving your general health, minor adjustments to your everyday diet can have major positive health benefits – not only physically, but emotionally & mentally as well. I am witnessing & living it firsthand, with Peter’s recovery, with my own health & the health of my kids.
I am no doctor. I am just a wife who happens to be a Chef & who loves her husband & family fiercely & passionately. Peter’s fight is my fight, is our family’s fight.
